Sampson's ex-coach ends season over 'prank'
Ralph Sampson's former high school coach ended Harrisonburg (Va.) High's boys basketball season when no player would admit to defecating on or near the shower floor after a Feb. 12 game at Stuarts Draft, Va., the Harrisonburg Daily-News Record reported Wednesday. Roger Bergey forfeited Tuesday's Valley District tournament quarterfinal game. Bergey, 61 and in his 30th year at the school, wouldn't discuss the specifics of the incident, calling it a "team disciplinary problem. The conduct of what occurred is unethical, inexcusable for high school athletic participation."
